Borrás Cristofol, Núria

Short Biography

     Núria Borràs Cristòfol is an Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). She has been a member of the IMEM research group since 2010 and is currently conducting her research within the HYDRO4F project. This project seeks to develop sustainable water purification technologies by combining advanced hydrogel systems with solar and electrochemical desalination methods, focusing on designing hybrid synthetic–biopolymer hydrogels integrated with photothermal materials (PTMs) to create efficient, reusable solar-driven evaporators (SDEs) for freshwater production.
     Her field of expertise is electrochemistry. Both in her doctoral thesis and in subsequent research, she has focused on this field for the synthesis of conducting polymers and copolymers for applications in molecule detection systems using biocompatible electrodes, as well as for material characterization.
     She has been a faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering since 1993, initially at EUETIB and currently at EEBE. She holds degrees from both the UPC and the University of Barcelona (UB), where she completed her PhD in the Department of Physical Chemistry in 2013.
