Elaine Armelin Diggroc

Elaine Armelin is a Full Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC, Spain), and research leader at the Innovation in Materials and Molecular Engineering Group (IMEM). She is a Group leader member at Centre for Research in Multiscale Science and Engineering (CCEM), a recognized Unit of Excellence in Spain; a Fellow of The Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC); and a member of The Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSEQ). Her research career has been recognized with the following awards: the ICREA Academia prize
(2024) for excellence in research, UPC Award for the Valorization of Research (2023), regarding academic-industry technology transfer activities; and Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award (2002). She has co-authored at around 180 peer-reviewed articles in high impact Journals and she is the co-inventor of 9 patents, some of them licensed to multinational companies. Prof. Armelin research interests focus on the development of hybrid materials for biomedical and chemical engineering applications. Her expertise areas include, bio-based and synthetic polymers, conducting polymers, thermosensitive hydrogels, electrochemistry, biobatteries, corrosion analysis and prevention.
