My research focuses on the development of soft, biocompatible power sources for implantable biomedical devices. Current work involves the design of electroactive nanoparticles for hydrogel-based electrodes and hydrogel electrolytes for fully hydrogel-based sodium-ion batteries. These flexible energy-storage systems are designed to provide mechanically compliant and safe power for temporary bioelectronic implants, with the ability to degrade after their operational lifetime.
The research explores the integration of bio-based and biodegradable materials into functional energy-storage systems, aiming to develop sustainable and biocompatible power sources for next-generation temporary bioelectronics.
Group, Project, and Research Lines within IMEM
Member of the Innovation in Materials and Molecular Engineering (IMEM) group at UPC. The research builds on IMEM's expertise in electroactive materials for energy storage, exploring bio-based and biodegradable materials for bioelectronics and the development of biocompatible and environmentally friendly energy-storage devices.
