PC-ProTec

Anticorrosive paints based on conducting polymers

PC-ProTec technology, developed and patented (PCT/ES2010/070820 and PCT/US2011/138925) by IMEM’s Group, was based on the use of poly(alkyl thiophene acetate)s conducting polymers as anticorrosive additive for epoxy and alkyd resins, employed in coatings formulations. The project centered in laboratory and outdoor corrosion studies to check the viability of the new compounds to replace zinc phosphate and zinc dust from market due to their toxicity for the aquatic environment.
